I would REALLY like to know what you think about this article from a south african journalist about AMERICA?

Yes we have a problem brewing, and it begins with that 2/3 of Americans that don't vote, allowing an administration like Bush's to hold two terms in office. And believe me we’re paying for it. Future administrations have a lot to undo. We’ve become fat, lazy, complacent and in some cases have been lulled to sleep. I honestly can't believe what has been done to our rights in the name of Homeland Security. Many have toned out, simply unable to deal with the present. However, there not all glazed over by Idol, Paris and Brittany. There are many who are paying attention, but inactive, waiting for the opportune moment, I hope. Some are simply centrists, like me. The problem is the right is too far right and the left is too far left, and the vast majority is stuck in the middle. If the power brokers continue on their track, and it does come to something similar to South Africa, I believe the result will be more like Romania in the 1980s, united against Ceausescu. Turning our nation's military inwards would fail, and then they would also realize the implications of the 2nd Amendment. There are lots of guns out there, and I mean everywhere. Remember that we Americans have done some of our best work with our backs against the wall, so don’t point a finger of failure just yet. There will have to be a giant slap in the face, perhaps several, before we wake from our coma. I will say God help those who provide the negative catalyst for that galvanizing element. But if a viable third party candidate were to grab that disenchanted 2/3 of Americans they would walk away with an election, that’s real change. Anything from the two-party system calling itself change is just the same ole bullshit. The thing is most Americans feel powerless. We're not. Example: high gas prices have caused many people to back away from gluttonous gas guzzling, in part, driving the price per barrel of oil down by over $4.00 in one day on Wall Street. As far as any other comparisons between our two countries there’s a big difference. Old World vs a country that is not even reached 300 yet. America as a whole is the second largest land m on the planet, that's a lot of ground to control. I live in New Hampshire. Our state motto is "Live Free or Die." Hopefully it never comes to that because I believe it down to my very bones. As far as how you've pegged all Americans in your generalizations, you're wrong. We're not the people you see in International media, or when you visit and some of the things you write, generalizing American habits, values, demeanor etc. are pretty presumptuous. People who live in other countries love to try and put all of us into one barrel. First of all many people don't espouse any religion, there goes "Christian Charity," second you start killing people, messing with people's families, taking their property and trying to enslave them I Goddamn guarantee compion and good will go out the window. Americans are damned if we do and damned if we don't. Instead of pointing a finger of blame for our standards of living, perhaps you should pay more attention to your own. Everyone wants to make us the living embodiment of all evil, be careful what you wish for.
