Well one of the benefits of manifest destiny is that we in the US have this whole huge country from one ocean to another because we believed it was our right to take anything and everything we could. The drawback to it would be the virtual annhialation of the native people who were living here who were either murdered or forced to move to reservations all in the name of manifest destiny.
