Burnout failuier?

i tried to burnout a 5.0 98 explorer but it did not bur ot instead it made a cracking noise i the transmission and every time i dont put in all the brake down thetransmission makes a strange sound ad heni put itin drive it respons anrun really good but it sounds broken what is wrong with m truck?
